About Jess
The heart behind The Garden
Hi, I’m Jess— wife, mum, and someone who has learned (sometimes the hard way) that beauty and brokenness can exist side by side. I believe in the slow unfolding of who we’re meant to be. In softness as strength. In lighting a candle just because it’s calming. In pausing long enough to notice what’s blooming, within us and around us.
At seventeen, I was diagnosed with leukaemia. It changed everything. The world I knew cracked wide open, and for a long time, I felt like I was wandering through a kind of wilderness: disoriented, hollow, uncertain of who I was becoming.
The Garden was born from a place of wanting to help others through seasons like that. The ones that leave you feeling unsure, lost, or alone.
To provide some hope from the loudness of grief and silence. And to encourage you where you’re at that, “maybe this isn’t the end.”
I didn’t create it because I have all the answers. I created it because I wanted others to know, that none of us do.
What I Value
This little corner of the internet is built on a few simple but deep-rooted values:
Gentle Truth-Telling
Because you’re not broken, and you’re not alone. I believe in speaking honestly about pain and healing, without pressure to be okay before you're ready.
Slow, Sacred Growth
Wholeness doesn’t happen overnight. I value the quiet, tender work of rebuilding… piece by piece, breath by breath, with time and grace.
Safety Without Expectation
I hold space for others the way I needed it held for me: no rushing, no fixing, just presence. You don’t have to smile if you feel like crying.
Beauty in the Ordinary
I believe meaning lives in the smallest things: laughter at the table, a blooming garden, sunlight through the window. These moments matter.
Rooted Faith
God’s love is the foundation under everything I do. It’s what carried me through the wilderness, and what grounds my joy today.
Creative Compassion
Whether through writing, hosting, or planting, I create to make others feel seen. I share not to perform, but to connect… to remind you that even here, something good is still coming.
A Few Things About Me
I love pretty things, high teas, flower markets, and setting the table like it’s an act of love
I run on cuddles from my husband, mornings at the gym, and my daughter’s giggles
I live in Perth, WA, where we restored a run down little house into our beautiful family home called Rose Cottage
My ideal afternoon is lying on a floral picnic blanket on a sunny patch of grass
